| March 9, 2006 News Release--For Immediate Release Burton-Middlefield Rotary Club Presents a $25,000 Check for Wheelchairs Ashtabula, OH (3-8-2006) Wednesday evening, at the Second Congregational Church in Ashtabula, Rotarian Robert Johnson presented a check for $25,000 to Dr. Don Schoendorfer, founder of the Free Wheelchair Mission. Mr. Johnson is the International Service Director for the Burton-Middlefield Rotary Club. The club raised money and obtained grants through Rotary District 6630 and Rotary International to provide for a crate of 550 wheelchairs to aid the victims of polio, malaria, AIDs and other disabled people in Ghana, Africa. Mr. Johnson said that the club helped establish and has supported for many years the Bill Barnes Pharmacy and it's associated medical clinics in Ghana. "This project seemed to be a natural tie in to our ongoing project in Ghana," he said. The Burton-Middlefield Rotary is working with 2 host country Rotary Clubs in Ghana which will receive the chairs, assemble them and then distribute them to the needy.
