Burton-Middlefield Rotary holds drawing for their Victorian Gardening Cottage on Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day proved lucky for a grandmother from Massillon, Ohio as the Burton-Middlefield Rotary held the drawing for their Victorian Gardening Cottage at Eagle Creek Garden Center in Bainbridge, Ohio. At precisely 3:00 pm Dr. Judith Gooding a supporter of Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) under the watchful eyes of approximately 100 onlookers picked the winning ticket for the cottage out of a barrel containing over 6,000 tickets. The lucky grandmother was Dana Vargo who upon hearing the news was both stunned and excited as she started making plans as to where she will place the cottage on her property. The day also provided a surprise for the Rotarians as the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Chardon, Ohio donated $ 10,000 to the project and Molten Metal Equipment Innovations, Inc. presented a check to the club for $ 1,795. This brings the total raised to over $ 55,000. According to Rotary President Michaelean Pesek this will allow the club to purchase 26 AEDs for county law enforcement agencies. "We didn’t have just one winner today, we had several thousand as Geauga County residents will now have an additional 26 AED’s on patrol throughout the county" , Pesek said.
