| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Burton–Middlefield Rotary May 31, 2005 Dear Editor,
A community pulling together can make things happen. A perfect example of this is the 30 Automated External Defibrillators (AED's) that the Burton-Middlefield Rotary Club has purchased for the Sheriff's office vehicles and other Geauga area law enforcement agencies. We were able to raise the needed money by having a raffle for a beautiful Victorian Gardening Cottage built by the members of the Rotary Club. Besides selling $30,866.00 worth of tickets, area businesses and individuals donated money for an additional $ 25,140.00 to help purchase these AED's. Adding a Rotary Grant which was matched by the Burton-Middlefield Rotary Club, the total funds raised was $59,596.10! We are so proud and grateful for surpassing our original goal of $ 45,000. The winner of the gardening cottage was Dana Vargo of Massillon, Ohio. She is very excited and eagerly awaits the delivery of the cottage to her home in the next few weeks. As president of the Burton-Middlefield Rotary Club, and on behalf of all our members and others who assisted us on this project that WILL save many lives in the years to come please accept our heartfelt THANKS for all that you have done!
